Create and fill a sales forecast by item

Procedure

  1. Open Planning > Sales forecasts by items and create a forecast using the intended scenario, plan type and period. Fill the required warehouse/customer/manager dimensions.
  2. On Items, select actual item references and enter the expected quantities for each period. Review totals and use the period-display settings to check periods in rows or columns.
  3. For a source-based fill, choose the item-filling rule settings. Select a ready-made source, explicit data period, enabled filters and required output fields.
  4. If using several sources, group them with the intended add/min/max/average rule and inspect the signs. Calculate one expected result independently before filling.
  5. For formula-based filling, select the supported operands and periods, preview the formula and check its result. A custom query is not required for a basic example.
  6. For a spreadsheet, use the external-file loading action, map item references and units, and resolve unmatched values before accepting.
  7. Review dates, quantities, prices/amounts where enabled and any cancelled/empty rows. Save, reopen and compare one period and total with the intended forecast.
  8. Repeat a fill only after checking whether the command replaces, appends or recalculates existing rows.
