Registration Payments from Customers

Record funds received from a customer using an incoming bank payment. The payment records the transaction in e:corg; check it against the bank confirmation and the intended settlement object.

Before you start

Have the bank transaction reference, date, amount and currency ready. Identify the customer's legal payer, company account and contract, order or invoice used for settlements. Check for an existing imported or manually entered record of the same transaction.

Create the incoming payment

  1. Open Treasury > Bank account payments > Incoming payment > Customer payment.
  2. On the main tab, review the document type, company account and legal payer. Check that the account currency matches the transaction.
  3. Enter the bank reference in Bank number, the document date and the amount actually received.
  4. Open Payment details. For one allocation, use Without splitting; a split/list is needed only when the payment must be distributed over several allocations.
  5. Check the customer, settlement object, contract where applicable, settlement currency and amount. Contract-based settings can fill the contract and settlement object automatically; verify them rather than relying only on the payment purpose.
  6. Check the cash flow item and any tax values against the source transaction.
  7. Mark Processed by bank only when supported by bank confirmation, and set or verify the bank processing date.
  8. Choose Post and close after checking the details.

Check the result

Find the payment row in Bank account payments. Check its customer-payment operation, bank reference, amount and bank processing date. Reopen the record to verify its payer, account and settlement object.

Refresh the bank workplace and compare the incoming movement and account balance change with the bank transaction. Check settlement reporting separately if you need to confirm the remaining customer debt; a bank-workplace row alone does not prove that a specific invoice balance is zero.

If the payment is associated with the wrong document

Review the settlement object and contract in Payment details. A payment-purpose reference alone is not a substitute for the required allocation. For a split payment, check each line's amount and confirm that the total matches the received amount.
