Track returnable packaging, deposits and returns

Identify packaging items, supplier return terms, deposit requirement and return deadline. Packaging quantity and deposit amount are separate checks.

Start at Purchasing > Purchase documents (all).

Procedure

  1. Review the supplier agreement’s packaging return and deposit conditions before generating the order or receipt.
  2. Enter the received goods and packaging items. Use the available packaging fill action where configured, then check coefficients and packaging quantities manually.
  3. Review the packaging return deadline and deposit calculation. Do not infer a deposit rate from the item price.
  4. Post receipt documents and perform warehouse receiving where required. Review packaging owed to the supplier in the packaging return report.
  5. For a physical packaging return, create Return of goods to vendor for the actual packaging quantity and complete the warehouse issue under the warehouse’s scheme.
  6. If the company agrees to buy packaging instead of returning it, use the supported packaging buyout operation and review its ownership and settlement effect; do not mark a fictitious physical return.
  7. Reconcile outstanding packaging quantities, overdue dates, deposit owed and actual supplier refund/offset documents separately.

Check the result

Packaging obligations decrease only for an actual return or agreed buyout; deposit settlement is supported by its own document.

If the result differs

Packaging remains overdue: compare actual return/buyout documents and their source links. Deposit does not clear: review its separate settlement instead of changing packaging quantities.
