Set vendor payment stages and delivery schedules

Use agreed prepayment/credit terms, supplier shipping dates, delivery lead time and the company calendar. Identify whether schedule control is by contract or order.

Start at Open vendor terms/contract or a purchase order’s payment terms.

Procedure

  1. Open the purchase terms/contract and choose the supported planning mode: prepayment/credit or multiple payment stages.
  2. For a contract schedule enter contract date and total amount, then define planned supplier shipment dates. Review the required settlement procedure.
  3. Set delivery lead time and compare shipment and expected receipt dates. A supplier shipment date is not the same as warehouse acceptance date.
  4. Enter each payment percentage/amount, offset basis and days: order, approval, contract, before shipment or from shipment where supported. Check payment-control type separately.
  5. Use working-day calculation only with the intended production calendar. Check that stage totals equal the agreed amount or percentage.
  6. Create/open the purchase order and review stages filled from agreement/contract. If a delivery date changes, inspect recalculated payment due dates rather than assuming all schedules remain unchanged.
  7. Generate the vendor invoice/receipt and compare its payment dates with the order. Review advance allocation and outstanding amount in supplier settlement reports.

Check the result

Payment amounts and dates match the agreement and remain explainable after shipment/receipt date changes.

If the result differs

Due date is unexpected: compare offset basis, shipment/receipt dates and working-day calendar. Schedule is locked: review whether the contract or source order controls it.
