Importing bank statements

Import a bank statement to record bank transactions and match them with payment documents. You need a supported file from the bank and exchange settings for the correct company bank account.

Keep the original statement and its opening balance, receipts, payments and closing balance available. Identify payments already recorded manually so you can check for duplicate documents.

Configure the account and import behavior

  1. Open Treasury > Bank account payments.
  2. Choose Payment export and import > Import statement / deposits into personal accounts.
  3. In Import bank statement / deposits into personal accounts, use the Import tab. Select only the intended account in the bank-account checkbox grid. Check Last statement and Import period.
  4. Open Configure exchange for that account and select the compatible statement file in its exchange settings. Check the company, account, currency and period before continuing. Supported formats depend on the configured bank exchange.
  5. Open Settings and review Main before importing. Check Create counterparties automatically and Post documents against the company's process. Do not assume the import always stops at a preview before creating or posting documents.
  6. Review payer/payee matching and existing counterparties. Automatic counterparty creation can require cleanup if the file identifiers do not match the catalog.

An offered browser extension is a separate component. It is not the statement file. Follow the company's integration setup rather than installing it merely to resolve a missing-file message.

Import and review the result

  1. Return to Import and click Import payments for the selected account.
  2. Review the result using Imported documents, Statement documents and Import report. Check the number of processed transactions and every error or unmatched entry.
  3. Open the resulting payment documents. Compare date, bank reference, payer/payee, account, amount and currency with the statement.
  4. Check the operation, contract and settlement object in each payment's breakdown. A reference in the payment purpose does not by itself prove allocation to the intended invoice or order.
  5. Resolve unmatched transactions through the available payment document/settlement controls. Review an existing manual payment before accepting a newly created document for the same bank transaction.
  6. Reconcile opening balance + receipts − payments = closing balance for the same account, currency and bank-processing period. Confirm bank execution only against actual statement evidence.

Before repeating an import, check what the previous run created or changed. Do not assume that a repeated file or changed bank reference is automatically deduplicated.

Resolve a missing-file error

If Import payments reports that the statement file is not selected for the bank account, return to that account's Configure exchange, select the intended file and recheck the account selection. Do not change account balances or create replacement payments to bypass this configuration error.

See Registering vendor payments for the payment document and its invoice allocation. Exporting payment instructions, importing a statement and executing a payment at the bank are separate actions.
