Configure cash flow items and plan expected inflows

Use the company’s cash-flow classification and priority policy. Planned inflows are forecasts, not bank or cash receipts. Cash-flow catalog maintenance is independent of the forecast. Follow the inflow-planning steps only when Cash forecast opens successfully and manual expected inflows are available in your configuration.

Start at Treasury > Cash flow items; Cash forecast.

Procedure

  1. Open Cash flow items and review existing categories before creating one. Define the category purpose and link it to the intended business operations using the operation-linking action.
  2. Assign payment priority where used. Check whether the forecast sorts by the request priority or cash-flow-item priority; use the priority criterion configured for that view.
  3. Review category defaults on contracts and agreements. Inspect the value on the actual payment document and resolve competing defaults before relying on it.
  4. With the inflow-planning feature available, for an inflow not already forecast from a sales document, create an expected-inflow record or use the action to plan incoming payment in the forecast.
  5. Enter company, expected date, amount, currency, cash flow item and intended account/cash desk where known. Avoid counting the same expected receipt both manually and from a sales document.
  6. Enable manually entered expected inflows in forecast settings where supported. Review future and overdue visibility; absence from an overdue column does not prove receipt.
  7. After actual receipt compare company, currency, cash-flow item and account used for forecast matching. Investigate a remaining/doubled planned amount.

Check the result

Forecast balances distinguish expected inflow from actual receipt and use an explainable cash-flow classification.

If the result differs

Expected inflow is absent: check forecast settings, future date, company and currency. Actual receipt does not reduce it: compare cash-flow item and funding account, then investigate duplicate planning.

If Cash forecast shows an unexpected-error page, retry once and contact support if it persists. Complete catalog maintenance separately; resume inflow planning only after the workplace is available. See Cash forecast availability and allocation.
