Set spending limits and review exceeded requests

Spending-limit documents and payment-request limit control must be available to the authorized users.

Payment requests and spending limits must be configured with authorized roles. Identify period, company/department and cash-flow dimension.

Start at Open the spending-limit records if payment-request limit control is available.

Procedure

  1. Open Spending Limits and create a limit for the intended period. Select company/department dimensions used by the company policy.
  2. Enter limits by cash flow item. If filling from previous months, review every imported amount and changed classification before approval.
  3. Confirm whether control is advisory or restrictive and which request statuses consume the limit. Keep this policy visible to approvers.
  4. Create/review a payment request against the same period and dimensions. Inspect the remaining limit and any exceeded-limit warning.
  5. For an excess, route it to the authorized exception/approval process or revise the request/limit through approved changes. Do not use an override flag as a routine workaround.
  6. Generate the Spending Limits report for the same period and dimensions. Compare limit, planned/approved requests, payments and remaining amount.

Check the result

The report explains consumption and an unauthorized requester cannot silently bypass a restrictive limit.

If the result differs

Request exceeds the limit: obtain approved exception or an authorized budget revision. Consumption differs: compare period, department, cash-flow item and counted request statuses.
