Set packaging and verify unit conversion

Procedure​

  1. Open the item and confirm the storage unit used for stock balances. Select a real unit from the current catalog.
  2. Enable Packaging for that item and select a shared packaging set, or an individual packaging set when the item needs its own packaging structure.
  3. Open List for the set. Add the package name and quantity in storage units, or in another package level. Use a fixed conversion supported by the actual packaging.
  4. In the document Unit field, open the unit selector and choose the package. Check both package quantity and equivalent storage quantity before posting.
  5. Test a simple fixed example: a package of 6 pieces and 2 packages represent 12 pieces. Verify the document and stock report in the base unit.
  6. For measured/countable conversions, inspect the actual rounding/deviation setting and test a boundary case. Do not enter a fixed conversion for variable-weight goods merely to make the form post.
