Create and select item characteristics

Procedure

1. Check the Item characteristics option under the item settings in Master data and settings and open the relevant Item kind.
2. Choose whether characteristics are individual to the item, shared for the kind, or shared with another kind. Set the relevant characteristic properties and naming rule.
3. Save the item and open its List link for characteristics. Select an existing shared value or create the required individual characteristic.
4. In a purchase or sales document, select the item first and then the intended characteristic. Check that its unit, quantity and price refer to that variant.
5. Save the sample document and compare stock or item selection by characteristic. Do not treat an item-level filter as proof that a characteristic filter has matched.
