Kit and disassemble items with component control
Define an item’s assembly option/component specification, quantities and cost shares. Check stock availability and the warehouse issue/receipt scheme.
Start at Warehouse and delivery > Kitting orders; Issue internal documents.
Procedure
- Review the item’s assembly/component options, including component units, quantities and the active/default version. Do not treat a bill of materials as evidence that components are available.
- Create a kitting order and choose assembly or disassembly. Enter finished-item quantity and warehouse; review the calculated component list.
- Set the fulfillment actions for components and review shortages. Move the order to its fulfillment state only when authorized.
- Create the assembly/disassembly internal document from the order. Choose assembly from components or disassembly into components and verify quantities and batches on both sides.
- Record the in-progress stage according to the configured warehouse process. At an order-based warehouse, complete component issue and output receipt documents separately.
- Enter actual completed quantities and inspect unused/missing components. Mark the operation completed only for the quantities actually assembled or disassembled.
- Review the order execution report and stock by component and finished item. Do not assume cost allocation is final merely because quantities reconcile.
Check the result
Component consumption and finished output agree with actual assembly/disassembly and no separate warehouse movement is omitted or duplicated.
If the result differs
Components are short: reserve/procure them before recording complete output. Order will not close: compare component issue, finished receipt and cancelled unused quantities.
