Reserve stock for an order, reassign it and release it
Identify the order/designation, warehouse, free stock and existing reservations. Reassignment can require Advanced designation adjustment operations rights.
Start at Warehouse and delivery > Assigned goods transfer; the source order’s fulfillment actions.
Procedure
- Review each order line’s fulfillment action. Reservation uses on-hand stock; reservation upon receipt can register demand against future supply; demand without a firm reserve does not lock physical stock.
- From the order use the order’s action to reserve for its assignment. Confirm the destination in the reservation wizard header.
- Choose reservation at the shipping warehouse or across warehouses. Inspect available, reserved and required quantities before entering the amount to adjust. Availability elsewhere does not mean goods are already at the shipping warehouse.
- For a partial reservation enter only the available intended quantity and leave the remainder visible as unfulfilled. Review the per-order and per-warehouse totals.
- If reassignment is approved, enable the option to use reserves from other assignments and select the source designations and exact quantities. Check the demand left unfulfilled on those source orders.
- When a second step appears, review batches, locations and bins. Complete the adjustment and check the target order’s dedicated quantity.
- To release stock, use the order’s action to release the assigned reserve, confirm the original designation and enter quantity to adjust. Review batch/bin detail before completing release.
- Verify that dedicated quantity falls and free quantity rises by the released amount, while physical on-hand quantity remains unchanged. Separately handle any physical warehouse transfer.
Check the result
Reserved + free stock reconciles to on-hand stock, and a partial order remains visibly partially fulfilled.
If the result differs
Reservation is insufficient: inspect free versus on-hand quantity and reserves for other orders. Reassignment is blocked: obtain the required authorization rather than changing another order secretly.
